Woohoo!!! Five day weekend (more on that below). I haven't posted for a while, so this'll be a long one.

This has got to be the most stuff-filled week ever: first Valentines Day (which is complete bs perpetuated by Corporate America to make men buy extravagant gifts for their wives/girlfriends in exchange for sexual intercourse: think of it as Christmas for females between the age of 16-80. And yes, I did write that because the closest thing I had to a date was my alarm clock, thank you for asking), then the anniversary of Decimal Day (school is off today and tomorrow, some say it's because of the Teachers Convention happening in Calgary, I like to think Deciaml Day had something to do with it; and yes, I do like to write comments for every one of my comments), then NBA All-Star Weekend which coincides with Chinese New Years, and on Monday, I get the day off again for Family Day, some scam made by the government of Alberta to let government employees off for a day in Febuary.

On a serious note, our school started grade 11 course selections this week. To paraphrase a certain prince of Denmark: To AP or not AP, that is the question,/whether tis noble in the mind to suffer countless hours of boring, boring, BORING AP crap that could potentially be completely useless AND draged down my grade. Anyways, for the mean time, I'm choosing to take the pre-AP courses in 11 because my parents want me to finish university faster (assuming I don't bomb 11 & 12 and have to be a hobo, in which case, if anyone needs a secretary/manny/cook/ janitor, you know where to find me). But the problem is that I've talked to my cousellor and she told me that Canadian univeristies are not that big on AP, unlike American universities which cost lot more than Canadian ones. Right now, I'm thinking of doing normal English and Social Studies(yes, it is a mandatory course in 12 over here) and AP for math and the 3 sciences (annoyingly enough, AP in 12 take the whole year so I'll have no choice but to go to summer school). I know a lot of you are gifted and on course for AP, I'd love to hear what you're doing for the next 2 years, so please leave a comment.

Alright, call me a hyprocrite, but I got a job. I still think it's extremely right winged and wrong, but I'll have to get a job this summer anyways, so might as well start now. Besides, as Marlon Brando might say, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse: I get paid $160 a month to tutor some 7th grader on English and math for 2 hours each week. Apparently the mom (some Chinese realtor who helped us get our house) thinks I have a "good work ethic"....right, well, I guess some people just have too much money to spend. My first session is this Friday, I hope it goes well, but not holding my breath here (the only thing that annoys me more than a little know-it-all is a stupid little know-it-all).

Great time for a break, I just caught the season finalle of Beauty and the Geek. No real surprise here, the strongest team got only 2 votes from their former competitors, not that the winners deserved the money. I think it's pretty clear that most of them got nothing out of the experience, which is just about right. But man does it make for a great show.

The All-Star break couldn't have come at a better time than the Phoenix Suns, they've just been slumping since Nash went out. Loosing by double digits to both the Bulls and the Sonics when they didn't have double digit loss the entire season prior. Bulls I get, but Sonics? Come on, I know Diaw was out too, but the Sonics? Which goes to prove that Steve Nash should win a third straight MVP, without him, I'd be surprised if the Suns can make the playoffs.
By the way, here are your All-Stars:

East: Agent Zero, D-Wade, LBJ, Bosh, Shaq, Billups, Caron Butler, Vinsanity, Richard Hamilton, Dwight Howard, Joe Johnson, and Jermaine O'Neal

West: T-Mac, Kobe, KG, Duncan, Ray Allen, 'Melo, Josh Howard, AI, the Matrix, Dirk, Okur, Tony Parker, and Amare

Which brings me to another point, these arguments about players from winning teams deserving to go to the All-Star game and taking out fan voting is ridiculous. The fans want to see exciting players, not ok players from good teams (last 4 piston went, there was no SG better than Richard Hamilton?). Who cares if a team is bad, a player shouldn't suffer because management sucks, and neither should the fans have to watch Mehmet Okur instead of Elton Brand or CP3 (nothing against Okur, he helped me win my first fantasy championship last seaon, but is he really better than Brand or Paul?).

How bout them raps? 16-6 in '07. Yesterday they just beat division rival nets. During the game, when fans started the MVP chant for Bosh, apparently, Carter caught mouthing the words: "C'mon. MVP?" Now, I have to make it clear that I agree with him, an OK team does not make a player MVP, but Carter has to regret forcing that trade to NJ now.

I noticed something really funny on ESPN, when first John Amaechi came out with his book "Man in the Middle", everyone praised him for being the first to come out and called him the Jackie Robinson of the gay community. So far so good. Then after a few days, people got tired of him and started saying how he's using his sexuality to make money...very strange

One last thing, Emery was suspended for 3 games by the NHL, Gerber started in his place and got a SO. First of all, who knew Emery had a mean streak? and second, Gerber got a shut out? I mean, sure it was against the Florida Panthers, but still, a shutout is a shutout. Who knew he had it in him.

Well, that's all for today. Happy Decimal Day, Chinese New Years, Family Day, and whatever other holidays there are this weekend from OBESE.

Ok, Ray Emery was a big-time fighter in the minors. Lapointe knew that if he fought Emery, he would have gotten eaten. Seriously. Second, Mehmet Okur shouldn't have made it, but come on, Paul? Brand? The guy I wanted to see go is Deron Williams. Big-time player on a big-time team.
